4. Manager's checklist



Now we are a Respect League there are certain actions team managers and Referees have to take before a match. Here is a short check list:

Home Team managers;
Equipment:

  • Check Pitch, pitch markings, goal nets and corner flags etc.
  • Make sure you have a dedicated spectator area (across the pitch from the team officials) and that the Respect Barrier for spectators is in place 2 metre’s from the side line, this can be the actual barriers obtained from the FA, continuous or dotted white lines or placed cones placed about 2 metre’s apart along the sideline.
  • Provide at least two correctly sized footballs fit for play. (Don’t forget ball pump).
  • Check that YOUR players' equipment is not dangerous.
  • Make sure your Captain is wearing the Respect arm band.
  • Greet opposing team & manager and show them dressing room facilities, warm up area etc.
  • If there is one appointed greet referee show him/her dressing room facilities & pay fees (before the game). Referees fees are only payable when allocated by the League.

Away Team Managers
Equipment:

  • Check that YOUR players' equipment is not dangerous.
  • Make sure your Captain is wearing the Respect arm band.
  • Opposition and Referee:
  • Make yourself known to the home team manager as soon as you arrive to find out about changing rooms and warm up areas etc. Greet opposing team & manager and show them dressing room facilities, warm up area etc.
  • Make yourself known to the Referee as soon as possible.

BOTH Team Managers

  • EXCHANGE player ID cards at least 10 minutes prior to kick off. If no ID cards are exchanged the game is null and void.
  • An identity parade will be held to allow for the identity of the players to be confirmed by the opposing managers the ID cards will be then be held by the opposing Team Official during the match.
  • With the Referee organise the Respect handshake before the game starts.

Referees

  • On arrival make yourself known to both managers.
  • Undertake the usual pitch checks including a check that there is a dedicated Spectator area and a Respect Barrier in place.
  • Check the players for jewellery etc.
  • With the Team managers organise the players undertake the Respect handshake just before the game starts
